Preface

Considering a relentless increased interest toward English for specific purpose studying among educators , and accordingly; the emergence of a large burden of ESP course books, preparing any ESP course book requires a drastically tedious attention to the students’ needs ,interests, and content background knowledge.

To achieve such goals above mentioned , the present book intended for Iranian learners majoring in architecture was prepared . In preparing this text book a crucial attempt has been made to enjoy some considerations.

First, the materials included in each unit were selected and compiled based on inquiries done during three semesters teaching English for architectural purpose to a variety of Islamic Azad Universities. So the topics chosen for units are advised by architecture instructors and students.

Second, to facilitate the process of reading comprehension acquiring and new vocabularies retention, the materials are accompanied by pictures and images.

Third, the activities in this book are designed in such a way that the students would be able to check their comprehension of the concepts through true-false, multiple choice, comprehension items, and language function activities. Although each unit is completed with definite activities, the way is open to further and more innovative activities to get students more involved in materials.
